For this project, we were supposed to come up with a design for our San Diego Flag. I did assignments on flags and what makes a decent or good flag. We went on a field trip to museums to learn about San Diego's history, to give us inspiration on our flags. The red in my flag is supposed to symbolize the Kumeyaay tribe. The yellow is supposed to represent how San Diego is known for their beaches. The yellow and red together are to symbolize Spain's influence in our region. The blue is supposed to symbolize Spain's migration to San Diego. The swirl in the middle is supposed to symbolize birth because San Diego was the birth place of California.

For this project, we got to learn about affordable housing and how it benefits communities that live under the poverty line and homeless communities. We took a field trip to San Ysidro and visited a non-profit affordable housing organization. We got to walk around the neighborhood and look at houses. We also took a field trip to an architecture school to learn about how they're dealing with affordable housing and what they plan on doing in the future. We wrote essays on how countries around the world, that have less homeless rates, are handling affordable housing. In the end, we were supposed to come up with our own affordable housing unit. My group and I decided to make an apartment complex in Downtown. It's a four story apartment complex with eight units on each floor. 4 of the units are single bedrooms and 4 are double bedrooms.
